Revija otroškega enominutnega filma v organizaciji Saveza društva Naša djeca Hrvatske v Zaboku (9. – 10. 11. 2012)

Ker so učenci OŠ Bičevje pod vodstvom mentoric aktivno sodelovali v projektu »100 ljudi, 100 čudi« in se v sklopu projekta oktobra 2012 tudi udeležili mednarodnega tabora v Poreču, sta bili mentorici skupaj s predstavnico učencev s strani ZPM povabljeni na Delavnice animacije in scenarija, ki so jih izvajale priznane hrvaške voditeljice v Termah Tuhelj.

V okviru projekta čezmejnega sodelovanja med Slovenijo in Hrvaško je Savez društava Naša djeca Hrvatske razpisal Natečaj za kratke filme otrok in mladine na temo »Život uz granicu / Življenje ob meji«. Na natečaj so svoje filmske izdelke lahko poslali otroci in mladi iz filmskih skupin iz Društev Naša Djeca in Zveze prijateljev mladine, ki so se udeležili projekta kot šolske, filmske in video-skupine iz mest in iz krajev, zajetih v čezmejnem programu IPA.

Namen natečaja sta bila spodbuda in navdih za mlade, kreativne ljudi, da v določeni filmski obliki v eni minuti povedo zgodbo o predsodkih in o različnosti, prijateljstvu, strpnosti in sožitju med otroci in mladimi, ki živijo ob meji med Hrvaško in Slovenijo.

Revija enominutnega filma je bila organizirana v sodelovanju Saveza društava Naša djeca Hrvatske, kot vodilnega partnerja na projektu »Otroci in mladi ne priznajo meja/Djeca i mladi ne priznaju granice« in civilnega društva za kulturo »Gokul« iz Zaboka.

Na Reviji v Zaboku je bilo prikazanih dvajset filmov, ki so na razigran in otroško originalen, a iskren in neposreden način govorili o tem, da prijateljstvo in strpnost ne poznata meja tako med otroci kot tudi med odraslimi ljudmi, ne glede na obstoječe različnosti. Vsi prisotni na Reviji, so tudi sodelovali kot del žirije pri izboru filmov za nagrado,ki jo je podelila publika.

Delavnice animacij ter scenarija so vse tri prisotne navdušile, Revija kratkih filmov otrok pa še dodatno motivirala za načrte, kako bi se tudi na naši šoli lahko lotili izdelave kratkih filmov.

V šolskem letu 2011/12 smo na delavnicah med drugim sestavljali slogane proti diskriminaciji. Mentorica, pedagoginja Alenka Fajfar Gnezda je povedala, da bo naše izdelke poslala na natečaj, toda takrat temu nisem posvečala preveč pozornosti. Pred mesecem dni pa je nenadoma prispelo obvestilo o nagradnem taboru v Poreču. Če bi povabilo sprejela (seveda sem ga, sicer pač ne bi brali tegale), naj bi odšla na začetku jesenskih počitnic, spremljali pa naj bi me pedagoginja Alenka Fajfar Gnezda in učiteljica Bernarda Avsenik.

Iz končne postaje šestice na Dolgem Mostu, smo se ob pol osmih zjutraj odpeljali z zelo udobnim avtobusom. Če predpostavimo, da sem bila ob tisti uri že dovolj prisebna za zaznavanje okolice še s čim drugim kot z ‘avtomatikom’ (odličen način, da zjutraj možgani lahko odspijo še dve rundi pred poukom J), potem sem na nasprotni strani avtobusa ob oknu (v natanko isti poziciji kot jaz J) opazila punco, ki je prav tako prišla edina iz svoje šole in se je pozneje izkazala za zelo dobro prijateljico.

Prvi dan tabora pravzaprav nismo počeli nič posebnega. Prejeli smo identifikacijske kartice, programe in majčke s kratkimi rokavi z napisom (nihče ni predvideval, da vreme ne bo primerno?), poleg tega pa sta bila v vrečki tudi zvezek in kemični svinčnik. V sobi sem se znašla prav s tisto punco iz avtobusa, Tricio, in dvema dekletoma, ki sta napisali najbolj drzen slogan (Vsi smo goli pod oblekami), Tino in Brino. Po krajšem zanimivem nagovoru (oh, koga zafrkavam, to je bil dolgočasni del, ampak sem vljudna), smo imeli neke vrste prvo delavnico – svoje slogane smo napisali na liste papirja, ki smo jih pozneje nalepili na steno šotora. Prav tam smo se zbrali ob osmih zvečer za »Multi-kulti« večer, kjer smo si med sabo podarili predmete, ki so predstavljali naš kraj in smo jih morali prinesti s sabo.

Pravo dogajanje se je začelo v soboto zjutraj, ko so v veljavo stopili barvni listki, ki so določali pripadnike štirih skupin. Moja skupina, rumena, je najprej spoznala strip. Mogoče sem pristranska, ker tako ali tako 99% mojih prostočasnih aktivnosti vsebuje svinčnik in radirko, toda ta delavnica mi je bila najbolj všeč od vseh. Simon Sanda je predstavil način risanja in vaje za roko ter pokazal nekaj hrvaških in slovenskih stripov. Najboljši del je bilo odkritje, da je delavnico pripravil, tako kot se spodobi in prinesel dovolj svinčnikov, več kot eno radirko (!J) in celo vsakemu udeležencu svoj šilček. Na uri mi je uspelo sestaviti zgodbo in nakracati osnovo (pa kje so organizatorji videli človeka, da bo v 45 minutah spravil skupaj dober strip), končala pa sem ga zvečer pred spanjem (okej, ponoči pred spanjem… nekaterim je šla meni nujno potrebna osvetlitev na živce).

Vmes sta se zgodili še dve manjši zadevi: gledališka delavnica (povezovanje s soigralci, razmišljanje še o kom drugem razen o sebi in druge za odnose pomembne stvari, toda ne maram se izpostavljati (obstajajo izjemne situacije!)), ki sta jo vodili dve odlični in zelo prijazni igralki. Druga zadeva pa je bil izlet na Hum, ki naj bi bil pravzaprav pohod, vendar je preveč deževalo. Avtobus nas je na koncu odložil pri gradu, ker se noter pač nismo mogli peljati. Potem nas je malo prepihalo, zmočilo (pelerin(ic)e gor ali dol), izvedeli smo pa kup zanimivih stvari o glagolici in skupni zgodovini Hrvatov in Slovencev.

Zadnji dan sta se odvili še preostali dve delavnici. Na prvi, »BoomBoom«, smo vse skupine – vsaka s svojo pesmico – sestavile glasbeno zgodbo o hrvaški deklici, ki je srečala slovenskega fanta. Uporabljali smo »boomwhacke« – plastične palice različnih dolžin, ki so neke vrste uglašene bobnarske palice. Delavnica »Ponosno različni« je prispevala k sprejemanju drugih in sebe, takih kot smo. Stali smo za svojimi slabimi navadami (dobesedno, saj smo morali vstati iz kroga in z drugim stoječim zamenjati svoje mesto, če smo slučajno zaslišali trditev, ki je veljala za nas), predstavili našo različnost v živi sliki tako, da je vsak od nas predstavljal enega od elementov celote, preverili svojo (ne)sposobnost opazovanja sogovornikov in v igrici izvajali tudi pantomimo.

Po kosilu in pakiranju (=dolgotrajnem iskanju mojih stvari na minskem polju, kjer je par bomb že eksplodiralo, naša soba namreč ni bila zelo urejena J) je potekla še zaključna prireditev, kjer smo predstavili svoje delo in glasovali za najboljši slogan. Na nek način smo zmagale me štiri »cimre«, saj sta slogan napisali Brina in Tina, oblikovali pa sva ga Tricia in jaz J. Nato smo poslušali še zaključni govor. Dve uri prej kot načrtovano smo se odpeljali proti domu. Tukaj je potrebno omeniti tudi dejstvo, da smo na zaključni prireditvi vsi nosili naše kratke majčke, v Ljubljani pa je snežilo J.

Imela sem se zelo dobro. Spoznala sem prijateljice (še posebno eno J), ki jih ne bom tako hitro spustila iz rok. Naučila sem se kar nekaj novega in se tudi pošteno zabavala. Odličen začetek kot ponavadi prekratkih počitnic!

Nagrada Amnesty International Slovenije

Nagrada Amnesty International Slovenije za najboljši kratki dokumentarni film na temo strpnosti na 16. Festivalu dokumentarnega filma v Cankarjevem domu.

Leta 2005 je mednarodna žirija Amnesty International Slovenije prvič podelila nagrado za najboljši film na temo človekovih pravic na ljubljanskem filmskem festivalu LIFF. Leta 2008 pa je AIS ocenjevanje filmov z vidika človekovih pravic prenesla na Festival dokumentarnega filma, ki vsako leto v Cankarjevem domu poteka marca.


S podelitvijo nagrad na festivalih organizacija Amnesty International opozarja širšo javnost na človekove pravice. Ustvarjalci filmov z izbiro teh tematik posredno krepijo znanje o človekovih pravicah, strpnost in večje razumevanje za soljudi.

Letos se je od 13.3.-20.3. 2014 v Cankarjevem domu odvijal že 16. Festival dokumentarnega filma.

Amnesty International Slovenije pa je letos prvič svoje dosedanje sodelovanje na festivalu nadgradila z organizacijo filmskega natečaja za mlade iz vse Slovenije na temo strpnosti. Na natečaj so bili poslani tudi vsi kratki filmi, ki so bili na naši šoli v lanskem šolskem letu posneti na to tematiko.

Tričlanska žirija Amnesty International Slovenije, ki so jo sestavljali: vodja učenja človekovih pravic pri AI Slovenije Simona Podobnikar in Tina Plahutnik z OŠ Frana Albrehta iz Kamnika ter režiser Miha Hočevar, so izmed vseh prispelih filmov izbrala kot najboljši film na temo človekovih pravic, film We all make the world beautiful, ki sta ga Alenka Fajfar Gnezda in Bernarda Avsenik lani posneli s skupino učencev OŠ Bičevje (Lis Millaku, Art Millaku, Chenyun Lin, Lina Chen, Belmin Mržljak, Natalija Alitović, Vanesa Zidi, Amina Begić, Medina Begić, Sevim Salifoska, Oman Viktor).

Svojo odločitev je žirija utemeljila: “Nagrajujemo film, ki je lep dokaz, da tudi s preprostimi sredstvi, z nekaj simpatičnimi izjavami, lahko talentirani posamezniki, ki jim ni vseeno, povejo marsikaj. Simpatično in obenem sporočilno.”

Svečana podelitev priznanj je bila v četrtek, 20. 3. ob 20.00 v Cankarjevem domu, kjer se je kratki film tudi predvajal obiskovalcem zaključnega filma Festivala dokumentarnega filma v Kosovelovi dvorani.

Posebno omembo žirije si je zaslužil še animirani film učenca OŠ Bičevje Grege Matjana z naslovom Ne diskriminirajmo. Žirija ga je na spletni strani Amnesty International Slovenije izpostavila kot primer dobrega filma.

Vse dni trajanja Festivala dokumentarnega filma so se tekom celega dneva ob stojnici Amnesty International Slovenije pred Kosovelovo dvorano na platnu predvajali še vsi ostali filmi, ki so jih šole poslale na natečaj in so si jih obiskovalci festivala lahko ogledali.

Hkrati so bile na informacijski točki pred Kosovelovo dvorano na voljo tudi informacije o kampanji S. O. S. Evropa, v kateri se prizadeva za pravice migrantov, beguncev in iskalcev azila na poti v Evropo in v Evropi.In čeprav Evropa včasih ni najboljša gostiteljica, pa smo gostoljubni lahko njeni državljani, zato so obiskovalke in obiskovalci festivala imeli možnost napisati svoje sporočilo dobrodošlice beguncem in migrantom.

Dan brez vode

Ne predstavljam si dneva brez vode. Ko so nam v šoli povedali za ta projekt, sem se zgrozila ob misli, da doma ne bi imeli tekoče, tople in čiste vode iz pipe.

Kako bi se počutili vi, če ne bi imeli vode in bi vas diskriminirali, otroci pa bi jokali zaradi žeje in različnih bolezni? Verjetno ne najbolje… Ko sem gledala posnetke Romov in poslušala prispevek, v katerem so nam razlagali o njihovem težkem življenju in kazali njihove domove, ki so bili umazani in so komaj stali na mestu, sem se počutila jezno, nemočno in žalostno obenem. Vsak dan morajo prehoditi kilometre do pipe ali potoka, da si napolnijo posode z vodo. In tu govorimo o mrzli vodi, nekatere vode pa so poleg tega še okužene in tako lahko cele družine zbolijo. Ste se kdaj spraševali, zakaj nekateri ljudje smrdijo? Zgražali ste se, verjetno. Vendar nekateri nimajo niti vode za umivanje, saj jim je ta omejena na minimalno količino na dan. Tako veččlanske družine porabijo vodo že za žejo in kuho, za ostale potrebe jim ne ostane več.

Zato vam polagam roko na srce, da stopite z nami proti tej grozoti. Pomagate že s tem, da človeka, ki ga vidite in je prikrajšan zaradi pomanjkanja vode, ne žalite, temveč mu s prijazno gesto ali steklenico vode polepšajte dan.

Pot ob žici

Organizacija AI Slovenije v sodelovanju z Mestno občino Ljubljana in Društvom Zeleni prstan je letos prvič sodelovala na prireditvi  Pot ob žici, ki je potekala od 9. do 11. maja.

V ospredju so bili cilji ohranjanja spomina na osvoboditev Ljubljane, hkrati pa druženje in rekreacija ter želja, da se obogati in omogoči, da se vrednote, ki jih Pot ob žici obuja – solidarnost, pravičnost, strpnost in odpor, usmerijo v sedanjo in prihodnjo bolj pravično družbo. Letos je izpostavljena pravica do vode: po podatkih AIS imajo v Sloveniji skoraj vsi prebivalci dostop do varne pitne vode, žal pa to ne velja za številne Rome, saj kar 20 do 30 odstotkov romskih naselij na jugovzhodu države nima dostopa do pitne vode.

V petek, 10. maja 2013 so se tudi učenci devetih razredov OŠ Bičevje udeležili Pohoda po Poti ob žici in hodili ZA pravico do vode.

Na predhodni delavnici o pravici do vode kot človekovi pravici so si učenci ogledali kratki film Vzporedna življenja, ki govori o življenju brez vode v romskih naseljih v Sloveniji in se ozaveščali o pravici do vode za vse ljudi, nekateri izmed njih pa so se odločili, da bodo doma napisali pisne sestavke na temo, kako preživeti dan brez vode in sestavili slogane v slovenskem in angleškem jeziku v podporo vsem, ki jim je onemogočena pravica do pitne vode.

V naslednjih dneh so učenci osmih razredov izdelali še nekaj plakatov, s pomočjo katerih so opozarjali na diskriminacijo do posameznih skupin ljudi ter pravico do vode za vse.

Plakate so učenci odnesli na Pot ob žici in jih razstavili na informativni točki Amnesty Slovenija pri stojnici na Grudi. Izbrani plakati naj bi bili kasneje razstavljeni tudi v državnem zboru.

Delavnice o slumih in diskriminaciji

Po obisku delavnic o slumih v Cankarjevem domu, kjer smo izvedeli veliko o življenju revnih ljudi in si tudi ogledali dokumentarni film o revni četrti v Aleksandriji, smo se udeleženci šolske skupnosti zbrali, da bi skupaj z učiteljico angleščine in pedagoginjo Alenka Fajfar napisali pismo predsedniku Nigerije in šolskemu ministru Zimbabweja. Zatem nam je pedagoginja pripravile tudi delavnice na to temo.

V prvem delu delavnic nam je učiteljica Bernarda pripravila angleške povzetke iz poročil Amnesty International s spletnih strani, ki smo jih nato skupaj prebrali, zapisali ter se o njih pogovorili. Nato smo v angleščini napisali dve pismi. Predsednika Nigerije smo opozorili na problem obrežnih naselij (riverfronts) in svoje trditve podkrepili z argumenti in izvlečki iz anonimnih zgodb nekaterih tamkajšnjih prebivalcev. Tam ljudje namreč živijo v zasilnih bivališčih, narejenih iz tistih materialov, ki jih najdejo. Otroke poučujejo tisti prebivalci teh naselij, ki znajo vsaj brati in pisati. Šola poteka pod zasilno streho, npr. pod drevesom, učenci pa pišejo s palicami v pesek. Na tak način jim v glavah pač ne ostane prav veliko.

Starši večinoma nimajo dela, čeprav bi ga radi. Ker nimajo dela, nimajo denarja, to pa vodi do pogojev, kot so pomanjkanje hrane in pitne vode, slaba izobrazba in pomanjkanje osnovnih potreb; pogosto ima eno naselje le eno ali dve stranišči za vse.

Medtem ko je naša skupina naštevala vse težave, s katerimi se ubadajo prebivalci obrežnih bivališč, je druga skupina ustvarjala plakate na isto temo. Slik učilnic pod milim nebom, okupiranih malih vodnjakov in podhranjenih ljudi res ni manjkalo. Čeprav so pogoji, v katerih živi veliko prebivalcev Nigerije in Zimbabveja grozljivi, sem se pri delu zelo zabavala, zlasti sem bila zadovoljna,da sem imela priložnost s konstruktivno kritiko opozoriti predsednika in ministra na njun nesprejemljiv način ravnanja z ljudmi. Revščina je ljudi namreč doletela zaradi prisilnih izselitev in rušenja njihovih hiš.

Dan je bil zelo zanimiv. Odkrila sem zelo uporabno življenjsko dejstvo, in sicer da je svoboda možnost, da si postavljaš svoja lastna pravila, zrelost pa sposobnost, da jih upoštevaš.

Your Excellency!

We are writing to you because we are seriously worried about the life conditions of more than 200.000 inhabitants of the riverfront communities in your country. We have learnt that they don’t have clean water and food. Most of them are unemployed even though they would like to work. The ones who are employed work hard but their payment is much too low to support their families. When their homes were destroyed, they didn’t get any compensation and they didn’t have the possibility to complain either. They lost everything they had and now they can’t break out of the circle of poverty. We hear that a lot of other people are also in danger of being forced to leave their homes without a warning or any time to pack their stuff.

The children in those communities lost the chance to go to school and get education. Mostly they were very successful and would have a bright future. Forced evictions result in early marriages, child labour, even prostitution.

We kindly ask you to stop forced evictions immediately and ensure that every Nigerian gets a decent home, access to clean water and proper education. We would like to remind you to act accordingly to the international laws and to respect human rights.

Poverty and Dignity

On Tuesday, March 27th,, I joined the school parliament when they visited the Documentary Movie Festival. People there presented to us how difficult life in slums can be. Slums are small villages where the poor people live. They make houses out of whatever they find and usually whole families live on about 12 m2. A woman from Zimbabwe showed us some pictures of residences like that. Children in slums don’t go to proper schools – they are taught by poor people like themselves who know at least how to read and write. Those ‘teachers’ don’t get payment for their work – they’re only teaching because they want to educate the children. The kids sit under the trees and write on the ground using sticks.

A man from Malesia who is a movie maker told us how to use media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter…) to inform other people about poverty, violence and violation of human rights. His first movie was about dignity and he recorded it as a school project. He also told us how poor people build houses on other people’s land; then the owners destroy the houses so that they can build other things. They don’t even allow the poor to take the little they have before the houses go down. The lady from Zimbabwe wanted us to close our eyes and imagine how it would be like if our homes were destroyed like that.

What is dignity? It’s our pride. How low will we go to reach our goals? Fathers in slums are doing their best to feed their families. Some people measure the respect that needs to be paid to a person in how much money they have. I think that poor people deserve more respect than most of us. I’d like to see men who destroy houses to wake up every day to face hunger, the fact that their children can’t go to school and the little place they live in isn’t even theirs. Maybe they would have more heart then.

We also watched a movie about poor people in Egypt. Their houses are small and wet but nicely decorated. The smell on the streets is horrible but they don’t seem to notice. It’s shocking how awful their life conditions are. They have little food and can’t bake bread if it’s raining. An old man that lives in a house which is always flooded spends every moment he has removing the water. If he just left it, the water would get to his bed as well as other things that need to be dry. The movie also showed positive things like marriage.

I think we should help the poor. But there can be a problem if we give money to a beggar who goes and buys alcohol, drugs and cigarettes. These things are even more dangerous if you hardly have enough money to buy food, but you have to spend it on drugs.

Organisations like UNICEF, Karitas and Amnesty International also help the poor. Every old dress that’s too small for us; all the toys that we don’t play with anymore; the books that we last read when we were three; we can give these things to organisations like that and make someone somewhere very happy.

My opinion is that the poor need help. We can’t always help them but we must be respectful to everybody, even them. Who knows what they’ve been through, but it’s probably worse than anything we can imagine. Some have enough dignity not to earn money with prostitution, most of them don’t commit suicide. They deserve to be treated nicely and with respect, because they’re the bravest of them all.

Projekt recikliranja in izmenjava izdelkov z Mehiko in Kitajsko

Februarja 2013 nas je učiteljica iz mehiške šole, s katero smo že sodelovali pri projektu izdelave mandal, povabila k ponovnemu sodelovanju skupaj z učiteljico iz Kitajske in predlagala projekt recikliranja. S svojimi otroki v starosti od 5 do 6 let je zbirala odpadne izdelke, nato pa so iz odpadne embalaže izdelali devetmetrski grad. Za izmenjavo med šolami je predlagala, da njeni učenci izdelajo okvirčke iz že uporabljenega ovojnega papirja bombonov ter lesenih palčk lizik ali sladoledov, v sredino pa se namesto slike zapiše kakšen izrek znanih umetnikov. Idejna tematika nam je bila všeč , nato pa se je vsaka država lotila dela po svoje. Na Japonskem so mlajši učenci izdelovali izdelke iz ovitkov za bombone, starejši pa so izdelovali imena v obliki grafitov na odpadnih tkaninah.

Na naši šoli smo v projekt vključili 70 učencev šestih in osmih razredov, ki so izdelali zapestnice iz starega papirja in revij. Zapestnice so učenci poslali otrokom v Mehiko in na Kitajsko. Otroci iz mehiške šole so našim otrokom poslali zapestnice izdelane iz odpadnih materialov pločevink in tekstila. Učenci šole iz Shanghaja pa so učence OŠ Bičevje razveselili z verižicami z barvitimi obeski, ki so jih izdelali iz odpadnih materialov, risbami ter kitajskimi bonboni.

Namen projekta je bil ozaveščanje otrok, da so odpadki problem povsod po svetu, da je za vse nas pomembno, da skrbimo za svoj planet in da je vsak izmed nas odgovoren za ta problem. S takim projektom pa se hkrati razvijajo stiki med državami iz različnih delov sveta in otroci spoznavajo in sprejemajo njihovo podobnost in drugačnost.

Veselje otrok OŠ Bičevje ob prejemu daril iz recikliranih materialov, ki so jih poslali otroci iz Mexico Cityja – zapestnice in iz Shanghaija – verižice.

Predstavitev, ki so jo otroci iz Shanghaja pripravili za otroke OŠ Bičevje, da bi bolje spoznali njihovo šolo, kraj in kulturo.

Sodelovanje s šolo na Kitajskem pri izdelavi velike stenske poslikave (murala)

Odzvali smo se na povabilo učiteljice iz mednarodne šole v Shanghai-ju, ki je v svoji šolski skupnosti organizirala projekt izdelave murala, kot del praznovanja in obeleženja njihove 80. obletnice, v duhu širjenja svoje izobraževalne filozofije. K sodelovanju je povabila več šol in posameznikov iz celega sveta. Namen projekta je bil povezovanje posameznikov v skupnosti preko ustvarjanja umetniškega izdelka, ki bi odražal multikulturen in globalen pristop pri poučevanju mladih. Tudi naši šoli je poslala manjše lesene ploščice, ki so jih učenci poslikali po želji. Poslikane izdelke smo poslali nazaj v Shanghai, kjer so bili nad izdelki otrok navdušeni. Sestavili so jih skupaj z ostalimi prispelimi ploščicami drugih držav in jih razstavili v šoli. Odziv je bil večji kot so pričakovali in do konca januarja 2013 so zbrali že okrog 1000 poslikanih lesenih ploščic, ki so jih poslali učenci ter ostali sodelujoči iz naslednjih držav: Slovenije, Francije, Kanade, Italije, Španije, Slonokoščene obale, ZDA, Velike Britanije, Irske, Mehike, Gane, Kitajske, Mongolije, Avstralije, Nove Zelandije, Malezije, Koreje, Japonske, Filipinov in Združenih arabskih emiratov.

Zaradi velikega odziva in ogromnega števila ploščic, ki še prihajajo, v šoli razmišljajo, da bi ob otvoritvi nove šole, meseca septembra 2013, vanjo postavili ogromno poslikavo, sestavljeno iz vseh prispelih poslikanih koščkov.

Sodelovanje s šolo iz ZDA v projektu »Art in All of Us«

V sklopu mednarodnega projekta »Art in All of Us« smo celoten prvi semester šolskega leta 2012/13 sodelovali z osnovno šolo iz ZDA, s katero smo si izmenjali izkušnje, se seznanili z urnikom in načinom dela v ameriških osnovnih šolah, spoznavali tujo državo in njene značilnosti ter navade. V sklopu tematike ekologije (varovanje okolja) smo spoznavali ozaveščenost prebivalcev ZDA glede te problematike ter dajali ideje in pobude za izboljšanje situacije. Z učenci iz ZDA smo si izmenjali tudi izkušnje glede lastne in skupne angažiranosti pri ohranjanju čistega okolja (preventiva, recikliranje itd.). Učenci obeh držav so izdelali grafike na temo ohranjanja čistega okolja ter si jih izmenjali.

QUESTIONS ABOUT ECOLOGY :

  • Have you ever earned any money with ecology projects and how?

No, but we do try to be sustainable in the art room

  • Want to share some ideas?
  • How do you motivate teenagers to help with ecology projects?

By informing them about what is going on in the world.

  • Do you use hi-tech at school or/and recycled paper?

Yes, we use computers, cameras, projectors, SmartBoards, and tablets. The paper we use in our printers has some post-consumer content. In art class, we reuse paper scraps, as you can see with our prints!

  • Do you pollute the environment?

Yes, everyone does without knowing it or meaning to. We ride in cars and on buses, we throw out food, we buy things from factories, we use plastic bottles (and many people throw them in the trash instead of recycling), and we create a lot of unnecessary waste. We are trying to stop, and the best way to do that is by spreading knowledge about the environment.

  • Are you an ECO school? What exactly do you do to satisfy the criteria for an ECO school?

We have an Environmental Club and an Eco-Schools Committee. Our courtyard is a certified natural wildlife habitat with turtles, ducks, fish, and native plant life. Our goal is to be certified as an ECO school this year, and many other schools in this area have already been certified.

  • Do you recycle things at your school?

There are recycling bins in every room and in the cafeteria and halls, but not everyone uses them because it’s not a requirement. It should be!

  • What would you do to make the world cleaner?

Hybrid cars, recycle everything, buy used items, compost, take shorters showers, buy post-consumer plastic and paper, use biodegradeable trash bags…

  • Do you have any problems with ecology?

We have many problems and there needs to be more of a collective effort put forth to decrease these problems.

  • Do you use hybrid cars?

Ms. Morgan’s mom does, as does our principal, Ms. Jackson. So, some people do, but most do not. People really like their big gas-guzzling SUVs L

  • How do you take care about the environment?

We recycle and re-use things for art projects.

  • Do you still find the Earth clean?

Some of it, but in urban areas, not so much.

  • Where do you dispose the waste of food?

We put our food in trash cans which are emptied into dumpsters which the garbage trucks empty and bring to landfills. Our art teacher, Ms. Morgan, composts all of her food waste. What a champ!

  • Do you collect old paper once a year?

We recycle paper every day. There are recycling bins in our classrooms that get emptied by the custodians.

  • How do you protect nature?

Recycling and not wasting resources. Reduce, reuse, recycle. And re-purpose!

  • Do you have recycling islands (special containers for plastic, glass, paper, organic waste…) in every street?

Unfortunately, we do not have recycling on every street. Certain parts of the city have recycling bins, but it needs to be more widespread. There are other cities in our country that are more »green« than we are, but there are even more cities that are less green.

  • Are you aware that the Earth is getting more and more polluted and poisoned?

Yes, we are aware. The problem is, people care more about convenience than doing the eco-friendly thing. Being eco-friendly needs to become a way of life.

  • Do you also collect plastic bottles and bottle caps?

Many of us recycle those things. Sometimes we use them in art projects, too.

  • Do you grow organic food ?

Some people grow organic food in gardens, and there are many organic farms, but they are small farms. The big factory farms that supply most of the food for our country are not organic.

  • Are you nature-friendly ?

Yes, at least our class is.

  • Do you separate trash-plastic,glass…?

Some people do but not everyone.

  • How do you separate garbage?

We have single-stream recycling, so anything that can be recycled (bottles, cans, paper, etc.) can all be put in the same bin.

  • Do you pollute the Earth?

Yes, but we’re trying to be better about not polluting.

QUESTIONS ABOUT SCHOOL

  • When do you start your school year?

Early September. We finish the school year in mid-June.

  • Does your school employ extra teachers who offer you additional help with school subjects or problems?

Yes, there are aids who help students with Math and English mostly.

  • Do you have good meals at school?

Not really! The food isn’t very good.

  • Which are your favourite school subjects ?

Art!

  • Is your school on the countryside or in town?

It’s in a town. Fairfax is a suburban town in northern Virginia, about 40 minutes outside of Washington, DC (our nation’s capitol). Washington, DC is where President Obama lives! Many of the families who live in this area are here because a parent is in the military, or because they work for the government.

  • Do you have morning gym classes?

It depends on your schedule, but yes, gym is offered in the morning.

  • Have you got any meals at school? What kind?

Yes, breakfast and lunch are available in the cafeteria daily. Students buy the food prepared by the »lunch ladies« or bring lunch from home.

  • Which languages do you study besides English?

It is optional for 8th graders to take a language (Latin, Italian, French, Spanish). Languages are not offered to 7th graders. Some elementary (K-6) schools offer languages but not all.

  • Do you also have school classes in the afternoon?

We are in school from 7:25am-2:20pm Monday through Friday. There are many clubs offered after school most days.

  • Do you have a lot of homework?

It depends on what classes you are in and what teachers you have.

  • Do you like your school?

Yes!

  • Is school fun for you?

Yes, but it depends on the classes, the teachers, and the individual students!

  • What time does your school start in the morning?

7:25am

  • How many school classes do you have per day (maximum how many hours?)

Each student has 7 classes per day, and each class meets for 54 minutes. Lunch is 30 minutes long. The bell rings after each period, and students walk to their next class in a different classroom. A sample schedule would be: Orchestra, Math, English, Art, Lunch, Science, History, P.E. (gym). Each subject is taught by a different teacher.

  • Can you describe your school?

Old, big, crowded, intense work.

  • How do you go to school?

Some people take the school bus, some walk, and some get dropped off by parents.

  • Are your teachers annoying?

Some are (not Ms. Morgan)

  • Please,describe your school time-table.

Classes are about 50 minutes long, but 5th period is an hour. There is a 4 minute break between each class. Lunch is 30 minutes long. There are 7 periods in a day.

  • Which subjects have you got?

Everyone takes English, Math, History, Science, and PE (gym), and they choose two other »elective« classes from the following list: chorus, band, orchestra, art, teen living (cooking and sewing), tech explorations (wood shop), computer solutions, and creative writing.

  • What school rules do you have?

You must have a pass to be in the hallways during class, no phones, no vandalism, no bullying, no being rude to teachers.

  • What kind of punishments do you get for disobeying the rules?

Lunch detention, in-school suspension, after-school detention, phone call to parents.

  • Have you got any extra or free timeactivities at your school?

There are many after school activities.

  • What would you change at your school?

More time between classes, and start school later in the morning. Smaller amount of homework.

  • What are school classes like at your schools?
  • Do you annoy your teachers?

Yes. For example, one student just put tape on his eyebrow and pulled it off, taking hairs with it. He gave it to Ms. Morgan as a present. Only four students in the class said they don’t think they ever annoy teachers.

  • Is your school big?

It’s pretty big for a middle school. There are only two grades (7 and 8), but we have about 1,080 students. Students come from a number of different elementary schools.

  • Have you got the good computers at school?

We have pretty good computers. They are Windows computers. We have laptop carts that teachers can sign out, and two computer labs.

  • Do you like going to school?

17 people in our class say they like school or think it’s okay.

  • Do you wear uniforms at school?

Only for gym.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • What kind of food do you eat?

We have many kinds of food available, from Asian to Italian to Mexican, and everything in between. Grocery stores and restaurants have an assortment of food ranging in all cuisines.

  • What are your towns, cities and villages like?

In northern Virginia, our towns are comfortable but packed full of people. More people move here all the time. Our cities are mainly business buildings and restaurants. We don’t really have any villages in this area.

  • Would you like to do something for a better world?

Yes, and in our art class, we have been doing recycling art projects and using recycled materials in our projects.

  • Which is the biggest store that you have in the USA?

We have many large retail stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, Safeway, Giant, and Costco; and many clothing stores like Macy’s, JCPenney, and other places like that.

  • Do you live in a houses or a flat?

One student in our class lives in a flat (everyone else is in a house), but many have lived in flats before. Ms. Morgan lives in a duplex, which is a house divided in two with two different families.

  • Where would you prefer to live; in the countryside or in a city?

16 students would prefer to live in the countryside, and 8 in the city.

  • Do you eat a lot of junk food?

The average American does; the students in our class do occasionally. Junk food is widely available and some people eat a lot of it, others don’t.

  • Does it rain a lot in your country?

The USA is very big with many different climates, but in Virginia it rains occasionally for a couple of days in a row, and then it’s sunny for many days. In the summer, it rains less and it is 90 to 100 degrees (Fehrenheit); in the winter, it rains more and snows sometimes, and the temperature varies between 30 to 40 degrees F.

  • Have you ever been to Europe?

7 people in our class have visited Europe, and 2 lived there for some time.

  • The world faces the economy crises, why should we afford the ecology crises as well?

If students from the other country were to visit your country, to which places your students would want to bring them? And why?

  • I would take them to Bled because it’s very beautiful there.
  • Bled. Because of the typical tasty sweet and the beautiful island.
  • To Postojna Cave-the most beautiful cave in Slovenia.
  • Kranjska gora-skiing.
  • Ljubljana.
  • To a museum to learn a bit of our culture and history.
  • I’d take them to BTC centre (shopping mall),because I think that we don’t have the same variety of clothes.
  • I’d show them our school and let them meet my classmates to see who they were writing to.
  • I’d like to take them to the banks of our beautiful green rivers.
  • I’d take them to the Ljubljana Castle or Šmarna gora.
  • To see The Three Bridges of Ljubljana.

What do your students think about this first exchange?

  • My schoolmates should try better. I think that the Americans showed more imagination and were more creative while my friends mostly drew the Earth and trash.
  • It would be better if the drawings could exchange faster and make new ones faster as well.
  • More time, less limitations in topics.

What would make this exchange more fun?

  • More students from different grades included in the project.
  • That we would travel to the USA.
  • That each student would do something different.

Art in all of us – projekt mandal

Na osnovi dobrega večletnega sodelovanja v mednarodnem projektu Art in All of Us, ki ga podpira UNICEF, je šolska skupnost OŠ Bičevje dobila povabilo, da se pridruži še trem šolam iz različnih delov sveta. Na ta način se je spodbujala ustvarjalnost otrok in krepilo medkulturno ozaveščanje ter širilo sporočilo prijateljstva in sprejemanja raznolikosti.

Aktivnosti so potekale v sodelovanju z učitelji in učenci iz štirih šol (Mehika, Japonska, Madagaskar, Slovenija). Več kot 50 učencev OŠ Bičevje je tako sodelovalo v projektu izdelovanja mandal. Učenci posameznih šol so tekom projekta pripravili tudi predstavitve ostalih vključenih držav in njihovih kultur, ki jim je sledila diskusija v razredu, nekateri pa so si predstavitve šol, mest in držav preko interneta predstavili tudi drug drugemu.

V delavnicah se je otrokom najprej predstavilo kaj so mandale, zakaj jih ljudje že od nekdaj ustvarjajo, njihova zgodovina ter namen. Otroke se je informiralo in ozaveščalo o pomenu mandal ter bogastvu raznolikosti ljudi v svetu in edinstvenosti, pomembnosti in ustvarjalnosti vsakega posameznika.

Otroci vseh štirih držav so na enako velik papir narisali enake osnovne kroge, na katere so z vodnimi barvami narisali mandale, ki so bile na nak način povezane z naravo in Dnevom zemlje.

Učenci so ob sproščujoči glasbi iskali stik s svojo notranjostjo in jo izražali na papir.

Skupaj smo si ogledali tipične slovenske vzorce, simbole, motive in barve. Nekateri učenci so jih vključili v svoje mandale ter tudi na tak način ponesli del Slovenije po svetu. Nastali so prelepi, edinstveni izdelki.

Učenci vseh štirih šol so izdelane mandale razrezali na štiri dele in jih razposlali v vse naštete države, kjer naj bi vsaka šola sestavila ogromno mandalo, sestavljeno iz delov mandal vseh štirih sodelujočih držav. Ta sestavljena mandala dejansko predstavlja vso raznolikost in drugačnost, a hkrati enakost in edinstvenost celotnega sveta.
